Criminal code of Satoshi
Chapter I: General Guidelines
Article 1 - General guidelines
(a) Definition of a felony - A felony is defined as a violation of the legal code of the Democratic Republic of Satoshi. Felonies come in two degrees: first degree, which are severe criminal violations and second degree, which are less severe criminal violations.
(b) Presumption of innocence - Every citizen of Satoshi is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the presiding judge and thus cannot be the object of any measure of suspension of any governmental roles, without the explicit approval of a justice of the Supreme Court or the next most senior member judge of any court.
(c) Lessening of sentence - If the judge believes that the convicted individual did not have any malicious intent, the presiding judge may lessen the sentence.
(d) Prevention of felony - If an individual demonstrates the will to commit a felony, the appropriate authorities, must take preventative measures to ensure that the felony is not committed.
(e) Appeals process - Should the General Court find the defendant guilty of the charges presented; the individual may appeal to the Supreme Court and/or request a pardon or clemency from the Grand Miner President. Both entities freely choose which cases to hear, granted that they review each case thoroughly.
(f) Notification of macronational authorities - If the felony committed by a Satoshian individual is a violent, first degree felony, the Ministry of Justice is obliged to notify the appropriate macronational authorities.
Chapter II: First degree felonies
Article 2 - Violent crimes
(a) Assault – Assault is defined as any action with the intention of frightening an individual that they will be the object of bodily harm. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(b) Robbery – Robbery is defined as any action that results in intentionally taking the private property of any individual without their consent. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(c) Battery – Battery is defined as any action that results in an individual receiving bodily harm at the hands of another person. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(d) Manslaughter – Manslaughter is defined as any action that results in the unintentional death of an individual. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(e) Murder – Murder is defined as any action that results in the intentional death of an individual. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
Article 3 – Non-violent crimes
(a) Bribery - Bribery is defined as the giving of goods, services or money in exchange for a government official or organization in order to influence that actions undertaken by the individual or organization. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(b) Blackmail - Blackmail is defined as a threat (possible or not) directed towards a government official or organization in order to influence the actions undertaken by the individual or organization. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(c) Treason - Treason is defined as the unauthorized selling or giving of classified information, physically or severely mentally harming a member of government, or defecting from the national government to another government with malicious intent. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(d) High Treason – High Treason is defined as the unauthorized selling or giving of classified information, physically or severely mentally harming a member of the judiciary, minister, member of parliament, Grand Miner President or participating in an overthrow of the Government of Satoshi .The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(e) Voting fraud – Voting fraud is defined as the act of attempting to disturb the elections of Satoshi, through subterfuge, misrepresentation of information, or attempting to vote multiple times. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
Chapter III: Second degree felonies
Article 4 - Non-violent crimes
(a) Government slander – Government slander is defined as the act of slandering government officials. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(b) Discrimination – Discrimination is defined as the act of unjust treatment of any individuals for reasons such as, but not limited to: age, sex, gender, race or ethnicity, culture or nationality, economic situation or faith. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(c) Harassment – Harassment is defined as the act of purposefully intimidating, humiliating or denigrating an individual. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(d) Forgery – Forgery is defined as the act of recreating government documents without the authorization of the relevant ministry. These government documents can be: government contracts, national currency, postage stamps, signatures of government officials or any other government document deemed fitting by the presiding judge. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(e) Fraud – Fraud is defined as the act of using criminal deception for financial or personal gain. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(f) Vandalism – Vandalism is defined as the act of defacing public or private property situated within the territorial bounds of Satoshi. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(g) Espionage – Espionage is defined as the act of knowfully and willingly gathering information which is confidential and transferring it to individuals non-authorized individuals. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
(h) Sabotage – Sabotage is defined as the act of attempting to undermine the government of Satoshi, through the destruction of its property, infrastructure or whatever deemed fitting by the presiding judge. The convicted individual may be punished with one of the following punishments: removal from governmental offices, temporary banishment from Satoshi, revocation of citizenship, permanent banishment from Satoshi.
Chapter IV: Final provisions
Article 5 - Amendment
(a) Amendments to the Criminal Code - An amendment can be made to this criminal through a citizen initiative (requiring 25% of the citizenry to support the initiative), petition from a Judge of the General or Supreme Court of Satoshi, through a parliamentary proposal submitted by a member of the National Assembly or the Grand Miner President. Any of these people can submit their request to the National Assembly, where it must be passed with a simple majority to be ratified into law.
Article 6 - Citation
(a) Citation - This criminal code shall hereafter be cited as "Criminal code of Satoshi, 2026".
Article 7 - Commencement
(a) Commencement - This criminal code shall be enacted into law upon assent by the Grand Miner President.
